Thriller opening - Planning: Plots

Possible Plots

Me and Louis came up with several ideas for general plots to our opening sequence to ensure we had a well thought-out back story that fitted our chosen sub genre. We narrowed them down to 3:
  1. A man rides his motorbike home late at night, gets home and goes to bed.  Wakes up the next morning to go out the garage where his inner monologue starts. Picks up a petrol can where we see a dead person tied up on the floor next to him. As he fills up his petrol tank he mentions stealth and being hidden. Finishes on a zoom shot towards his locked garage.
  2. Man on a motorbike is racing down a motorway with  progressive music. There are straight cuts to another man in a front room on the phone mentioning that he is concerned of his safety. The whole title sequence cuts between the two and the titles. Eventually there is a split screen between the two. The scene ends with the man being hung up on and hearing a ring at the door. Screen cuts to black with the main title
  3. The sequence opens with the main character waking up at 8 am as per usual, starting there morning routine of brushing their teeth ect.
The character proceeds downstairs but is confused when their family are not anywhere to be seen. They search the house but no one is in and when they try to get their phone out to ring a their mum but there is no signal. The character becomes increasingly panicked and heads outside to see if there's anyone outside, the cars are still in the driveway. They go out into the street and no one is around, the camera cuts to another shot, this time further out looking at the main camera as a silhouette quickly passes the camera. The character is completely alone apart from the other presence that appears to be stalking them.
  4. Young boy wakes up in a dense forest with no memory of where he is or how he got there. He gets up disorientated to investigate and walks through the forest. He hears a noise and delivers a short line of dialogue ("Who's there?") - we see an over the shoulder shot of the protagonist from the perspective of an unidentified hooded figure. Cut to credits.
Me and Louis have decided to use the 4th plot due to it not only being the easiest to shoot which leaves us a lot of time to takes several different shots that we can edit to give the sequence a niche appeal
